Wow, I am sorry it’s been so long since my last blog everyone! The summer flew by and now it’s almost Thanksgiving!
I’ve been so busy with school, my gymnastics training and our Prestige Level 10/Elite Pink Out fundraising projects that I never realized just how much time had passed.
No worries though! I am still here and working as hard as ever preparing for the upcoming season, which starts next month at the Christmas on the Chesapeake in Baltimore, MD.
Ok, so now to get everyone caught up, we’ll start with my summer camp experience at WVU. I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team. It was great to be able to see what it’s like to be a Mountaineer gymnast training at Cary Gym. To top it off, I even won the Mountaineer Spirit Award! It’s experiences like this that get me more and more excited for what the future holds at WVU.
After that we had 2 wonderful and relaxing vacations. One was a big family trip to a rental home in Eagle Rock, Hazelton, which is always a blast, because my family is so much fun with a little bit of crazy mixed in. The memories we make are endless. Our second trip was to Myrtle Beach and I had never been there before, so it was a great time experiencing what Myrtle Beach had to offer.
Throughout the summer and now into the fall, I have been working on new skills for this season. My favorite new skill is my shaposh on bars, which you can view on my You Tube channel. I am looking forward to a healthy and rewarding meet season, Lord willing!
It’s also hard to imagine, but I am already into month 3 of my Junior year, but doing quite well.
Since June my mom and I took over our Prestige L10/Elite Pink Out Fundraising efforts, which benefits an organization called Unite for Her. As a team we took the Pink Invitational Team Challenge and we will be participating in the gymnastics meet in February. It’s a wonderful organization helping to change the lives of those affected by breast cancer. We organized a coin drive, bake sales, a car wash, Rita’s Celebrity Scoop night, a T-Shirt design contest, sold cancer bracelets and ended our efforts with a bang at our 3rd Annual Prestige Pink Out Show (pictures can be found on my photos page). Our goal was to double our $2,600.00 total from last year. I am so excited to say that we are closing in on $7,000.00 thanks to all the amazing support from friends, family and local businesses who were so eager to help.
On another note, I am now a licensed driver. Don’t worry though, my friends and family tell me I drive like a grandma ~ and that’s not a knock on grandmas, because I have 2 of the best!!! 😉 It’s just the cautious thinker in me, lol.
Okay, so now we are all caught up to this weekend. We took a trip down to WVU to watch an inner squad meet and then I got to stay overnight in the dorms with some of my future teammates who I already consider sisters. Then on Saturday we got to go out on the football field until the game started and I am happy to report that my Mountaineers beat Texas for the Win! It was a fantastic trip and it’s my home away from home!
Now today, I topped off my weekend by visiting a dog which we are going to adopt this coming Thursday from a foster rescue. Her name is Summer and I can’t wait to bring her home to snuggle!!! She is such a sweet girl and will make a new great friend for our other dog Zoe.
So as you can see, I have been busy. Next time I will try to be more aware of how much time is passing in between my blogs though.
Sending lots of love and hugs to each of you. So appreciative of your continued support.
Let’s keep enjoying this great journey together.
